Asociación para el Desarrollo Integral Comunitario (ADIC) is a non-profit community development NGO in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Although we are small, we have a big impact! Our name translates in English to Association for Integral Community Development. The word integral, in Spanish, means total, complete, or whole, and its presence in our name denotes the organization’s comprehensive and holistic approach to community development. Integral has another meaning in Spanish, as well: built-in, incorporated, or integrated. In this sense, the word refers to ADIC’s methods of combining or coordinating separate elements of development to create healthy, stable communities.
Vision and Mission
ADIC’s vision includes greater citizen participation and leadership at the local level with national impact, the self-reliance and sustainability of communities, improved quality of life for at-risk populations, gender equity and social justice, and a healthy environment. ADIC’s mission is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of communities, by forming and strengthening community organizations that promote the active participation of children, adolescents, women, and men in the process of developing their community and preserving the environment. In this way, the communities are the architects of their own development.
